Osteopathy for everyone

Osteopathy for everyone

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which works with the structure and function of the body. The maintenance of good mechanical function is essential to good health. Problems in the framework of the body can disturb the circulatory system or nerves to any part of the body, and affect any aspect of health.

It is a holistic approach that works to restore the structure and function of the body to help it return to optimum health. Osteopaths look at the body as a whole and aim to address the cause of the problem instead of just the symptoms. Therefore, we regard the person and not the condition.

The aim of the osteopathic treatment is to facilitate the body to restore its natural state of balance. We use the anatomy and physiology of the body, the bones, muscles, fascia, cerebral spinal fluids, lymphatic fluids etc. and find the restrictions often distant from the original complaint that cause the discomforts and help to remove them in order to allow the body to heal itself.

At ED-HC our experienced osteopaths see hundreds of patients a year for osteopathic care. Our patients range in age from newborn to the elderly, and all ages in between! Patients come for help with an incredibly diverse range of health issues. An osteopathic case history, assessment and treatment is a total body healthcare approach, designed to get to the root cause of your problem, not just treat the symptoms.

We have a wealth of experience treating a very wide range of health problems and have a special interest in mothers and babies as well as fertility treatments, children of all ages, women’s health, back injuries and sport injuries.

In your first session, a medical history will be taken to see if there could be any links to your current problem, for example any falls, operations or difficulties giving birth.

An examination will then take place where tests are performed to eliminate any differential pathologies and try to discover why the problem has occurred. And if appropriate a treatment will take place.
